Dodger
March 2002 - "He is just awesome, it took 8 1/2 hours to get home and he slept the entire
way home. We hit South Haven and drove thru a snow storm the rest of the
way home, 50 mile an hour winds and heavy snow, complete white outs. Cars
were in ditches everywhere, and the roads got very ice covered and slippery.
He is getting along fine with the other dogs he really likes Stormin and
Stormin seems to like him, the other two dogs aren't sure of him yet the
beagle drueled for a day before she started to relax and pretend he isn't
there. He is very smart, and is learning his house training very quickly.
He is all I expected and more, please feel free to use me as a reference."
September 2002 - "Just a note about Dodger, we have been taking lessons at Pine Hill from Jim
once a week. Dodger is doing great and he is already larger than Stormin.
Jim is a incredible trainer it is like watching a horse whisperer,
everything is calm and very gentle. But what is really amazing is that he
only has to show Dodger once and he gets it. It is awesome watching a very
smart and great dog work with someone so gifted. Last night we shot a
couple of quail over him, we have done a lot of gun work around him and he
shows no ill afects at all. The only problem we have had to work with is he
is a very soft dog and getting him to range out has taken some time, but he
is getting very bold now and ranging well. He is a complete pleasure both
in and out of the field, you do a wonderful job of raising great Springers,
Thank You. By the way Jim says Dodger is one fabulous Springer."
October 2002 - "Dodger has been on 3 hunting trips so far this season, and he has far
exceeded my expectations. He has flushed several pheasants, and retrieved
to hand, great nose, great drive, he is the real deal. When he is in the
field he reminds me of Stomin, in all he is just awesome. When I get some
pictures I will send one to you. He is every bit the family dog we had
hoped for, and I am postive he will grow up to be a great bird dog."
Thank You again.
November 2002 - "Dodger is awesome, he did a great job on wild Michigan pheasants this fall,
put up some tough old birds that required a smart dog, he shocked me at his
level so early on, he has exceeded all expectations so far. He works great
with Dixie my lab, but he wears her out fast, he is so fast. Every time I
hunt with him makes me glad I went with a springer and not another lab, I
will always have one Lab, but my main hunting dog will always be a springer."
December 2002 - "Thought you would like to see a picture of Dodger. This was from a company bird
hunt. Dodger is awesome, he even retrieved two birds we didn't shoot, one a hawk had just killed minutes
before he got it and one was a wounded cripple. The other dogs were shot - better word would be tired -
at the end of the day. Dodger never slowed down. He impressed everyone!"
December 2003 - "Dodger is now in his
second season and has really become a great dog. He can't seem to get close
enough to me when I am in the house, he is such a lover. As for hunting I
couldn't ask for more, he retrieves to hand every time, and is learning to
handle running roosters. The interesting thing is when the other dogs are
worn out and done for the day, he just keeps going like the energizer bunny..."
October 2004 - "...All is well with the Dodge Man, what a dog. He is starting to remind me of
stormin when he hunts. He is becoming a pheasants worse nightmare. We had
him out last sunday and we got into a bunch of quail and just had a ball, he
flushed and retreived them with precision."
January 2006 - "...We took a hunting trip to Iowa, November 10, 2005. We were the guests of the Mudd Group in Cedar Falls. The Mudd Group is an advertising
agency that Lakeshore Chrysler uses regularly. They decided to start an annual pheasant hunt. It was awesome. We discovered new friendships and some incredible bird hunting. Dodger
just keeps getting better. It was funny watching his reaction as 50 birds left the end of the field we were hunting. He is used to seeing a few birds, but the scent of 50 birds running
out ahead of us was too much for him to handle. To say the least, he was a little out of control. He is a great hunter, great friend, great family dog. Please keep up the great work
with your springers. You are great for the future of our springers."
"By the way, we took 36 birds home."
November 2006 - "Just thought I would let you know I really enjoy your web sight. I just spent the last 20 min. looking at the post card section, it puts a smile on your face. Hey Dodger is doing great, he is hunting all the time, and doing an awesome job. Last Feb we were on a fund raising hunt, for a gentlemans family after he passed away. A friend of mine and his lab and my lab and dodger took out 3 guys that had never hunted behind a dog. After the rules were laid out we took them out and took 16 birds, the guys putting on the hunt went with us to carry birds and to make sure it was a nice experince. The guys putting on the hunt could not believe Dodger, he kept saying he was a machine, he owns two very well trained german shorthairs ( I believe GSP are the dumbest dogs alive) he could not believe Dodger and his work ethic. Well needless to say we took more birds than all the other hunting parties that day. And there were some fine dogs, with experinced hunters behind them. I am now known in town and around hunting circles as the guy with the hunting springer machine, yes Dodge is now a legend. Thank you again for all you do for great springers, the more people see them, and are around them the more they are impressed."
December 2007 - "Just wanted to drop you a note on Dodger. During November we took another trip to Iowa for pheasants. WE had 3 Springers, 1 Lab, and 2 German Shorthairs. We hunted in 45mph winds and 25 degree temps. The birds were really jumpy and the long ranging pointers did a very nice job of bumping birds. At 60 yards out makes for a very tough shot. Well when we finally got it figured out we used only the Springers and everything got better. Close working, close flushing, and hard work, the Springers got the job done. Dodger in now 5 and a half years old and a hunting machine, I was able to completly run him out of gas by days end. I do have pictures of him crashed out on the motel bed, and I mean he was gone! The next day he was good to go again. Springer are in my opinion the best pheasant dog on the planet, and yours take a back seat to no one. I have now hunted with many good dogs of different breeds, all well train and talented. But on pheasant Springer just plain rock. Thank You again for Dodger, he is everything you said he would be and more."
March 2008 - "First off don't let anyone tell you your dogs are not water dogs. Second don't let someone tell you your dogs don't hunt harder than any other dogs. I could not keep Dodger out off the water, he almost swam accross this river just for fun. He crashed on the hotel bed after two hard days of pheasant hunting in Iowa this fall. I thought you would enjoy these pictures."
April 2008 - "Company pheasant hunt April 20th. Flushed 21 birds, Dodger flushed 20 of them. We killed 17 birds, everyone retreived to hand by Dodger. He had the kind of day a baseball player has when he goes 12 for 12 at the plate. WE all agreed he had his game on! I could not of been prouder of that dog. He is so special, please keep breeding awesome dogs like him, you are doing the breed a huge favor, and every hunter that has the privilege of hunting behind them."
